The CAVE showcases construction plans and blueprints as life-sized, virtual reality walk-throughs |
|
Immersive experience designer Holovis has collaborated with architecture firm Cullinan Studio to create BimSpace, a Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE) visualisation suite, that can be used to turn onsite construction facilities into multi-purpose Building Information Modelling (BIM) environments.
Billed as a staple design tool for architects the CAVE is a portable four or five-sided space with multiple projectors displaying 3D content onto its walls to create an immersive virtual environment.
Using the CAVE architects are able to showcase complex construction plans and blueprints as life-sized walk-throughs, while head-tracked 3D glasses offer a 1:1 scale of the information and allow users to interact with the plans in real-time.
Presenting data sets in this manner also enables collaboration and more detailed analysis throughout the building process.
Dave Elliott, manager of Enterprise Business Development at Holovis, says: “The ability to walk around and through virtual environments increases the quality of on-site decisions, shortening build programme timetables.”
Elliott adds: “The CAVE can also be used as a training tool, allowing teams to see exactly what is happening next in the project and how it should look, giving a greater understanding and speeding up the physical work due to the increase in knowledge.”

Small Footprint, Big Significance: Studio City Water Park |
|
Long known for its fancy casinos, Macau realized within the past decade that it must
diversify its tourism scene to attract new crowds. With the ambition of becoming the
leisure hub of China’s 72-million strong Greater Bay Area, the city began adding shows,
attractions, and family-friendly hotels. But the offering that truly stands out with fun
for everyone is Studio City Water Park – Macau’s first stand-alone water park, with all
the water slides and aquatic play structures supplied by WhiteWater. |

The experience economy, driven by evolving consumer trends, is poised for continued growth
in the coming years. Millennials have been at the forefront of this shift, favouring
memorable experiences over material possessions. This preference has extended to other
generations as well, indicating a broader adoption of experience-focused spending habits
in the attractions sector. |
