EAS 2017: Frontgrid and Simworx launch 'world first' VR attraction
POSTED 27 Sep 2017 . BY Lauren Heath-Jones
Frontgrid launched ParadropVR in a press conference at EAS17
Industry newcomer Frontgrid has partnered with media-based dynamic simulation attraction developer Simworx to launch a 'world first' virtual reality attraction at this year's Euro Attractions Show (EAS).

Called ParadropVR, the VR attraction is designed to provide an immersive experience that realistically simulates the feeling of flying on a paraglider. The ride features a smooth up and down motion that incorporates sudden drops and smooth deceleration, making the rider feel as though they are actually flying in the sky. ParadropVR also features an interactive gaming element where riders score points by flying through a series of targets as they descend back down to earth.

"Our mission is to create world first, iconic adventure experiences with strong brands and protectable IP, underpinned by disruptive, high growth, high return business models," said Frontgrid CEO Matt Wells, who is also a former British Army Paratrooper.

"ParadropVR is a totally new concept, designed for use in a wide range of venues including theme parks, destination attractions, FECs, cinemas and cruise ships. It also offers a number of different theming and content options and a modular design that provides high hourly capacity and low operating costs."
