Polin Waterparks’ Cartoon Network Amazone in Thailand has taken the top honour during the World Waterpark Associations’ (WWA) Symposium & Trade Show Awards ceremony in Las Vegas.

The Leading Edge Award was presented to Polin’s president Baris Pakis and Cartoon Network Amazone Waterpark’s CEO, Liakat Dhanji. It recognised the park and supplier’s combined efforts to bring a project to fruition while driving industry innovation and leadership.

“As the supplier of many award-winning waterparks in the world, we are proud to be working in conjunction with Cartoon Network Amazone’s creative and innovative team,” said Baris Pakis. “Though theming in waterparks is not new, the theming of all of the water slides as characters or elements of a story is a brand new concept.”

The Bhat1bn (US$30.9m, €22.8m, £18.2m) park’s attractions incorporate popular animated series including Adventure Time, Ben 10,The Power Puff Girls, Johnny Bravo and The Amazing World of Gumball.

The park launched on 3 October and features signature attractions including a gigantic family wave pool, a winding adventure river, speed-racing slides, family raft slides and one of the world's largest interactive water play fortresses.
